Cubaris “Cappuccino” isopods
Cubaris sp. “Cappuccino” Isopods
Cubaris “Cappuccino” isopods are a visually striking species prized for their smooth, rounded bodies and beautiful coloration resembling a creamy cappuccino—blending tan, brown, and subtle dark striping. Native to the humid forests of Southeast Asia, these isopods thrive in warm, moisture-rich environments and are a favorite among collectors and bioactive hobbyists.
Growing to around 1–2 cm, they are a moderately sized Cubaris species with a calm, slow-moving nature. They tend to spend much of their time burrowed or hiding under leaf litter and cork bark, becoming more active at night.
Cappuccino isopods are detritivores, feeding primarily on decaying leaves, wood, and organic matter. In a bioactive setup, they act as an efficient clean-up crew, helping break down waste and recycle nutrients within the enclosure.
While considered relatively hardy compared to some Cubaris species, they still require stable conditions—consistent humidity, warm temperatures, and minimal disturbance—to thrive and reproduce successfully.
Their unique appearance, shy personality, and usefulness in bioactive systems make Cubaris “Cappuccino” an excellent choice for intermediate keepers looking to add a rare and attractive species to their collection
